CAP/NASA Aviation Weather Mission 1

DATE AND TIME: Observation period is 0800-1200 5/10/2025
Arrival Time: All members are requested to arrive by 0645. This is to ensure enough time to set up, log into WIMIRS, and practice.
Departure Time: Members are allowed to leave after the observation period has concluded and the member has been signed out of WIMIRS. This should be done by ~1230
Location: 385 Stateline Rd W, Southaven, Ms 38671 This is subject to change, please keep an eye on your email!
What To Bring: Snacks. Water. CAPid. Pens/Pencils and Paper. Sunscreen. Sunglasses if needed. Fully Charged cellphones with the GLOBE ad FlighRadar24 apps downloaded and prepared.
Personnel Requirement:
- Complete CAPT GES 116 in Absorb.
- Complete Achievement 1 for Cadets
- Complete Level 1 for Senior Members
- Have a complete ABU uniform
- Complete Cadet Protection Training if you are over 18 years of age
- Complete all training materials emailed to squadron members

To prepare for the mission, please complete the following steps
- If you missed any of the training or missed the previous Monday Meeting, you MUST complete all training modules. It also may help you to go through the modules on your own this week to polish and refresh your skills. You can find the training here CAP/NASA Training Materials
- If you are younger than 18, you must complete the parent consent form before completing the survey Parent Consent Form Please keep this form handy and bring it with you to the mission.
- On Friday evening, it is REQUIRED that at least one member of the team attend one of the three Mandatory Mission Briefings. There will be two in English at 1700 CDT and 2000 CDT. A third will be offered in Spanish at 1830 CDT. While only one member is required, it is encouraged that all team members attend You can register here: Mandatory Mission Briefings
- It is strongly recommended you start practicing with the GLOBE app this week. I encourage all observers to do so, the mission leaders have created a small challenge. If you log 10 cloud observations in the app before the mission, your name will be placed in a drawing for a chance to earn special NASA and mission gear!
